Message Moving right along..... =)

I received my fuel pumps today in the mail that I ordered from a company called TRE Performance. Got them in good time and for a good price of $70 each.

Here's the flowchart for them, which also includes the power consumption. This is pretty nice info to have as it shows what kind of electrical load the motor has vs flow and pressure. With two of these pumps at maximum boost of around 28psi (which would be 72.5psi fuel pressure), it flows 40 gallons/hr and pulls about 13.3Amps at 13.5V. Good info to have as I will begin constructing the dual pump controller - it will need to handle about 40A total to give good headroom for both pumps, maybe more - just depends on how many mosfets I can stuff into the OEM FPC case.

I spent some time today and got the new pump setup put together. These are just a few shots - I'll be putting together a post in tech with every picture/step for those that may want to follow it (or VTF).

Also, something interesting I discovered. In the TT fuel pump bulkhead there is a small device that looks similar to the pressure regulator. Pictured here:

I have thought for some time that this was a one-way checkvalve for the system, but this isn't the case. This is actually a pressure relief valve. I hooked it up to my compressor and found that it vents off at 80psi of pressure. This would be the required fuel pressure at some 35.5psi of boost pressure. If you ever diagnose that your car is running lean and you have replaced every part of the fuel system and it still runs lean, I would be suspect of this part. If it gets some garbage in it or the spring loses its temper, or the valve mechanism has some sort of issue, it will prevent you from generating proper fuel pressure. Just keep this in mind for any future reference.

All I need to do now is run the extra 5/16 steel fuel line from the tank up to the engine bay and the fuel system is ready to go. :)

What's next? Complete 3" stainless steel exhaust construction from the downpipes to the muffler tips, and with two very functional additions to it that I'm sure will get people quite excited. :) Stay tuned....
